Optimize your MySQL Database
A suggestion at Weblog Tools Collection blog says he saw a large decrease in MySQL activity when he went and optimized his database. Optimize your Database
The easy way to do this is with phpMyAdmin
Log into phpMyAdmin, click the database you want to optimize on the left side, scroll down until you see the "Check All" link, click it and make sure all the database tables are checked. From the dropdown menu next to it, select "Optimize Table".
