I find myself using email to send text messages to my cell phone-toting friends these days, but constantly have to go out and figure out what the format is to send the SMS message. Finally, gathered here in one convenient place (bookmark the permalink for this post… hint hint) is the format for the six main US cell phone carriers.

You can also use a third-party (free) service Teleflip which let’s you simply email to "phonenumber@teleflip.com" and they figure out how to forward it to the correct cell carrier. Currently, Teleflip works only in North America (Canada, US, Caribbean, Hawaii, Guam). The are working on adding more countries soon.
