Someone finally got pissed off enough with NetFlix to intiate a
class action lawsuit.
I noticed their scurvy habit of throttling subscribers back in 2004: if you consistently sent back your DVD rentals too quickly and finally cancelled my membership because of it. I was consistently returning movies the same day I rented them, and after about two months, noticed they were taking longer to record a returned movie, and longer to mail out the next selection in my queue. I had no proof at that time, but around the middle of this year when I joined
BlockBuster Online, I started to see
references all over the net to this behavior.
The settlement provides for one free month of 1,2 or 3-at-a-time rentals (throttling at no extra charge…) to past and present NetFlix subscribers.
