Chitika eMiniMalls Review

October 4th, 2005

Problogger’s Darren has been in a beta test for Chitika eMiniMalls and wrote up a very nice review. The service is something like AdSense in that ads are placed on your website or blog, but the format features a single, supposedly-related product item with multiple tabs listing quick specs, deals and sometimes reviews for the product.

Payment is on a click-basis and he reports seeing higher per-click revenue then his AdSense ads are generating, though less actual clicks than with AdSense (which he says might just be to having not optimized ad placements yet).

Negatives seem to be limited ad inventory and sometimes bad contextualization.

There’s a discussion he started in the DigitalPoint Forums

WordPress Blogs - Scheduling Posts to Publish in the Future

October 2nd, 2005

WordPress has a feature which allows you to schedule an article or post to be published at a future date. This feature has benefits for website marketers interested in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and website promotion. Since search engines like fresh content and actively updated websites, you can benefit from that fact by delaying and spacing out the publish date of new posts.

Intelliflix - Rent Games and DVD Movies by Mail

October 2nd, 2005

I’ve found a new DVD rental service which offers additional options over those provided by the two leaders, BlockBuster Online and NetFlix. A service called Intelliflix works the same as NetFlix and Blockbuster in that you add the movies you want to see to a queue on the Intelliflix website — putting them in the order you’d like to receive them — and the movies are sent out to you by US First-class mail. The shipping is free and the DVDs are sent with a pre-paid return mailer envelope. Keep the movies as long as you want then just drop them in any mailbox. When Intelliflix receives a DVD back from you, your next selection is mailed out.

Mac OS X Tip: Switch Applications from Keyboard

October 1st, 2005

A great Mac OS X keyboard shortcut allows you to switch back to the last application which was frontmost by holding down the "Apple" modifier key and pressing the Tabl key. I love this feature for bouncing back and forth between two different applications.

There are variations to this key combo: press and hold the Apple key, hit the Tab key once but continue to hold down the Apple key. This brings up icons for all the running applications in the middle of your monitor, and now you can keep hitting the Tab key until you get to the application you want, OR, use the mouse pointer to select one.
